WhoIsTheOwnerOf.com (“WITOO”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have when you visit our site. By using this site you agree to the practices described below.
1. Information we collect
We collect two kinds of information: (a) information you give us voluntarily — for example when you submit a contact form, leave a comment, or send a correction; and (b) information collected automatically when you visit, including IP address, browser type, device, pages viewed, and approximate location (typically country / region).
2. Cookies and tracking technologies
We use cookies, web beacons, and similar technologies to operate the site, remember your preferences, measure traffic, and serve relevant advertising. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, but parts of the site may not function correctly without them.
3. Advertising partners and Mediavine
This site is monetised by advertising. Our advertising network is Mediavine. Mediavine and its advertising partners — including Google AdSense, Magnite, OpenX, PubMatic, Index Exchange, and other ad-tech vendors — use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your interests, measure their effectiveness, and prevent fraud.
For full information on how Mediavine handles personal data, please review the Mediavine Privacy Policy and the Mediavine Cookie Policy. Mediavine partners with the IAB Transparency & Consent Framework (TCF) and the US National Advertising Initiative for consent and choice signals.
You can opt out of personalised advertising at any time:
- EU / UK / Switzerland: YourOnlineChoices
- United States (national): aboutads.info/choices
- California residents: privacyrights.org and our CCPA section below
- Canada: YourAdChoices Canada
4. Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 and Google Search Console to understand how visitors use our content. Google’s data practices are described in the Google Privacy Policy.
5. How we use your information
- To operate, maintain, and improve the site
- To respond to enquiries, corrections, and comments
- To detect and prevent fraud, spam, and abuse
- To serve relevant advertising via Mediavine and its partners
- To comply with our legal obligations
We do not sell your personal information for monetary consideration. Sharing of pseudonymous identifiers and contextual data with our advertising partners is described in section 3 above.
6. Your rights (GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA / CPRA)
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to: access the personal data we hold about you; ask us to correct or delete it; restrict or object to certain uses; receive a portable copy; and lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority. California residents have the additional rights of disclosure, deletion, correction, and to opt out of “sale” or “sharing” of personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising under the CCPA / CPRA.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@whoistheownerof.com with subject line “Privacy Request”. We will respond within 30 days for GDPR requests and 45 days for CCPA requests.
7. Comments and embedded content
If you leave a comment, your name, email address, comment text, IP address, and browser user-agent string are stored to help detect spam (via the Akismet service). Articles on this site may include embedded content (videos, images, social-media posts) from other websites. Embedded content from other sites behaves in the exact same way as if you had visited the originating site.
8. Children’s privacy
This site is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EU). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us and we will delete it.
9. Data retention
Comment data is retained indefinitely so that follow-up replies can be threaded correctly. Server logs are retained for 90 days. Analytics data is retained per Google’s retention settings (currently 14 months). Aggregated, anonymised statistics may be retained longer for editorial planning.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected with a new “Last updated” date at the top. Continued use of the site after changes means you accept the revised policy.
