During the period of 1963–68, the Vijaya bank grew into an Indian bank through the merger of 9 miniature banks into Vijaya Bank. Further, Vijaya Bank got nationalized in the year 1980. Especially, the credit for this amalgamation and the growth of the Bank possessed by the late Mulki Sunder Ram Shetty, the Chief Executive of the bank during the period.
