How we research ownership
Every ownership profile we publish goes through the same verification process. We do not aggregate from other “who owns” sites. We start with primary sources and triangulate.
- Primary documents. Publicly traded companies file annual reports (10-K), proxy statements (DEF 14A), and quarterly disclosures with the SEC. These are our first stop for any US-listed company.
- Official press releases. Mergers, acquisitions, and ownership transitions are typically announced through company newsrooms. We cite the original release rather than secondary coverage when possible.
- Tier-1 financial press. For private companies, family trusts, and holding structures not visible in public filings, we triangulate across Forbes, Bloomberg, Reuters, The Wall Street Journal, and Financial Times.
- Cross-verification. No ownership claim makes it to publication unless it appears consistently across at least two independent sources.
- Quarterly reverification. Ownership changes. We re-check our top-traffic posts every quarter and update the “Last verified” date on the page.

WhoIsTheOwnerOf is run by a small editorial team that splits research between corporate filings analysis and ownership-trail journalism. Our writers each have backgrounds in finance, business journalism, or corporate research.

We are not owned by, affiliated with, sponsored by, or invested in any of the companies we cover. JSAN Publishing has no outside investors, no parent media conglomerate, and no advertising relationships that influence editorial coverage. Our revenue comes entirely from reader-supported display advertising managed by an independent third-party ad network. We do not run sponsored content, “paid placements,” or affiliate-driven ownership reviews.
