Who Owns DD Free Dish?
DD Free Dish is owned and operated by Prasar Bharati (Doordarshan), India’s statutory public broadcasting corporation funded by the Government of India under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB). 2026 Update: Still the World’s Largest Free DTH Platform
DD Free Dish remains the world’s largest free DTH platform, reaching more than 40 million homes. Prasar Bharati completed its 90th slot e-auction in the 2025-2026 cycle and, under a newly amended E-Auction Methodology 2025, opened its 100th auction round on July 16, 2026 (running through March 2027) alongside a 101st MPEG-4 slot round.
