Andhra Bank was a public sector bank headquartered in Hyderabad — founded in 1923 by Dr. Bhogaraju Pattabhi Sitaramayya, a freedom fighter and Congress leader. It was merged into Union Bank of India in April 2020 as part of India’s PSU bank consolidation. Andhra Bank no longer exists as an independent entity.

Who Owned Andhra Bank?
Andhra Bank was owned by the Government of India — nationalised in 1969. In April 2020, it merged along with Corporation Bank into Union Bank of India as part of the Finance Ministry’s 10-bank PSU bank consolidation.
