Diddy’s Marketing Deal — Not Ownership

In 2007, Diageo signed a landmark marketing agreement with Sean “Diddy” Combs (P. Diddy / Puff Daddy) that gave Combs the right to market and promote Cîroc in exchange for approximately 50% of the profits from US Cîroc sales. This was a profit-sharing marketing deal — not brand ownership. Combs became the public face of Cîroc, incorporated it into his celebrity lifestyle brand, and is widely credited with transforming Cîroc from a niche product into one of the best-selling premium vodkas in the United States. However, Diageo remained the brand owner at all times. Following Combs’ arrest in September 2024 on federal charges, Diageo terminated the marketing partnership. Cîroc remains a Diageo brand.
