LYF, also known as Reliance LYF, is an Indian mobile handset company headquartered in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. The company manufactures 4G-enabled VoLTE smartphones. It is a subsidiary of Reliance Retail, the consumer electronics arm of Reliance Industries Limited. Also, operated along with the parent company’s flagship venture, Jio.

The Mukesh Ambani-led conglomerate has invested close to Rs.1.5 trillion in its telecom venture, Ambani had said in March, describing Reliance Jio as the world’s largest start-up.

Chinese handset maker ZTE Corporation manufactures LYF smartphones. The company plans to source more phones from the maker before the launch of its Jio 4G services later in 2016. At the same time, Reliance Retail recently launched three new LYF smartphones — Flame 2, Wind 4 & Water 7, taking the portfolio to eight models, starting from the affordably priced devices at Rs 4999 to the premium devices. Also,  Flame 2 holds the cheapest VoLTE-equipped phone offered by the company.

Currently, Reliance Retail is also preparing to launch ultra-HD smart TVs.  This will support Reliance Jio Infocomm’s upcoming commercial operations.

Dutt was speaking at the launch of Jio’s Earth 2 phone in Mumbai on Monday.
